One of 19 men charged in what prosecutors called a multimillion-dollar theft ring was sentenced Thursday to get drug and alcohol treatment and to spend a year on probation.
Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge Thomas Crush sentenced Kamal Atwan, 40, of Westwood on a charge of receiving stolen property.
Atwan pleaded guilty last month in exchange for dismissal of a second charge.
Atwan, an employee at Best for Less Market on Vine Street, was accused of buying goods such as cigarettes and over-the-counter medication for half their value from an undercover police officer.
Authorities say Atwan believed the items were stolen.
Atwan and the other 18 people were charged last October in a 105-count indictment that included charges of conspiracy, money laundering, receiving stolen property and tampering with records. Authorities said the ring stole merchandise to resell it at corner stores.
