The Cincinnati Enquirer

Valerie King scored 24 points as Cincinnati defeated East Carolina 78-72 in double-overtime Friday night, clinching a berth in the Conference USA Tournament.

It was the first overtime victory in three tries for the Bearcats (13-13, 4-8 C-USA), who rallied after trailing by 40-30 at halftime.

Before the game, junior center Debbie Merrill was suspended indefinitely because of a violation of team rules, UC coach Laurie Pirtle announced. Merrill is averaging 15.2 points and 7.5 rebounds.
