Fresh faces for Hamilton County
We endorse Pat DeWine and Jim Sumner for the Republican nominations to the Hamilton County Board of Commissioners.
We feel they would make the best commissioners compared to their opposition in the primary. We will assess the relative merits of the candidates of both parties for the general election this fall.
We make no endorsement in the Democratic primary race between Kabaka Oba and Erich Streckfuss, who seek the seat now held by Republican John Dowlin. Oba is a self-described activist we have criticized for disruptive behavior, rude and sometimes racist remarks at public meetings for several years. He also is a supporter of the economic boycott of Cincinnati.
Streckfuss, a University of Cincinnati student, is a political unknown tapped by the county Democratic Party to be a stand-in candidate to deny Oba automatic nomination. If he wins, his party will seek to replace him with a better known candidate in the fall election.
