Top 25: Wake Forest holds off Georgia Tech
The Associated Press
ATLANTA - Wake Forest is making a habit of knocking off ranked teams. Justin Gray scored 26 points and the 15th-ranked Demon Deacons made it three in a row against the Top 25, holding on for an 80-76 victory over No. 18 Georgia Tech on Sunday night.
Wake Forest (17-6, 7-5 Atlantic Coast Conference) stunned the Yellow Jackets with an early 16-0 run, then withstood a furious comeback that tied the game at 71 with 3 1/2 minutes remaining.
But Georgia Tech (19-7, 6-6) couldn't get over the hump as Eric Williams hit two key baskets inside, and Chris Paul made up for a miserable night by scoring the clinching basket with 12 seconds left.
