Another top-ranked team falls

The Associated Press

LUBBOCK, Texas - Ninth-ranked Texas Tech earned its first regular-season victory over a top-ranked team Sunday, beating No. 1 Texas 62-49.

LaToya Davis matched her career high with 15 points and Jolee Ayers-Curry added 14 for Texas Tech (23-4, 9-4 Big 12).

Heather Schreiber and Nina Norman each scored 14 points for Texas (23-3, 11-2), which had its nine-game win streak snapped.

The Lady Raiders last beat a top-ranked team in 1993, when they defeated Vanderbilt 60-46 in the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament. Tech went on to win its only national championship that year.UC 80, Charlotte 56

CINCINNATI - Anne Stephens scored a career-high 20 points, and Valerie King added 21 as Cincinnati overwhelmed Charlotte Sunday at Shoemaker Center.

The win was the second straight for the Bearcats and improved their record to 14-13 overall and 5-7 in Conference USA. It was the fourth-straight loss for the 49ers, who dropped to 14-12 and 7-6.
