ELMWOOD PLACE - A man is facing charges after an Elmwood Place police officer Wednesday uncovered one of the largest stashes of cocaine in recent years in this Hamilton County suburb.
The traffic stop resulted in the recovery of 115 grams of powered cocaine, about $3,000 in cash and a small amount of marijuana, Elmwood Place Police Sgt. Paul Corbeil said. The cocaine had a street value of several thousand dollars.
Maurice Price, 27, no address available, is charged with aggravated drug possession, drug possession and driving under suspension.
The incident unfolded about 2 p.m. when Elmwood Officer Brett Barnes spotted Price driving in the 500 block of Township Ave. Barnes knew Price had a suspended license, Corbeil said.
The officer eventually stopped the suspect at North Bend and Winton roads. Barnes then noticed a baggie of what field-tested to be powered cocaine sticking out of a compact-disc case on the car's front seat, Corbeil said.
Price was being held at the Hamilton County Justice Center Wednesday evening.
