Musician Bob Mayo died of a heart attack earlier this week while touring with
Peter Frampton's band in Basel, Switzerland. He was 53.
All remaining dates on Frampton's European concert tour were canceled.
Mayo, who was born in New York in 1951, met Frampton after performing with several bands in the 1960s.
They toured the U.S. and Canada together, and recorded the shows that resulted in Frampton Comes Alive! in 1976, according to a statement on Frampton's Web site.
Mayo, who played keyboards and guitar, also wrote songs, and later toured with bands including Foreigner and Aerosmith and singer Robert Plant.
He rejoined Frampton, who now makes his home in Greater Cincinnati, in 1992 for seven months of touring that yielded Frampton Comes Alive 2 in 1995.
Services will be private.
