TV best bets

Gannett News Service

Must-see

Friends, 8 p.m., Channels 5, 22.

As the final week of the "sweeps" ratings period begins, the networks have new episodes. Enjoy them, prior to a cascade of reruns.

Tonight, Rachel tries to interview for a new job. That isn't easy when her current boss is at the next table in the restaurant. Meanwhile, Phoebe is still thinking about taking a married name or keeping her own - or coming up with something more exotic.

Joey continues to mope because Chandler and Monica are getting a house in the suburbs. He finds some solace in a friendship with the little girl whose family is selling the house. She's played by Dakota Fanning, the young star of The Cat in the Hat, I Am Sam and the Taken miniseries.

Worth watching

The Bachelorette: After the Final Rose,

8 p.m., Channels 9, 2. On Wednesday, viewers saw Meredith Phillips make her final choice. Tonight, we meet the couple, which could actually stay together. The previous Bachelorette led to a marriage; the Bachelor pairings have crumbled, sometimes with astonishing speed.

Will & Grace, 8:30 p.m., Channels 5, 22. Three key guest stars return. John Cleese is Lyle, Karen's lover. Minnie Driver is his daughter, who was the mistress of Karen's late husband. She complicates things by moving in with her dad. Eileen Brennan is Jack's old acting coach.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, 9 p.m., Channels 12, 7. Cops aren't sure how to explain the bodies of a clown in a junkyard or a rich-looking man in a troubled neighborhood.

The Apprentice, 9 p.m., Channels 5, 22. An eighth person is fired tonight. That means half the original 16 will be gone.

ER, 10 p.m., Channels 5, 22. An angry man has stolen a tank and is rumbling toward the hospital.
