Oscar tips: A panel of local film buffs and experts heads downtown to the Main Public Library to spend An Afternoon with Oscar. Enquirer movie critic Margaret A. McGurk, City Beat's Steve Ramos, reference librarian Heidi Bullard, freelance critic T. T. Clinkscales and NKU prof Tom Zaniello will discuss the Academy Awards, toss out some trivia and hand out prizes. 2 p.m. today, 800 Vine St., downtown, free. 369-6900.

Cat parade: The Cincinnati Cat Club delivers its annual All-Breed Cat Show with all sizes, shapes, colors and breeds of cats preening, prancing and throwing off attitude. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. today, continues Sunday, Albert B. Afro-Latin: Tickets for the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra's "Mombo Madness" March 26 date at the Aronoff Center are on sale now at the Aronoff and Music Hall box offices, Ticketmaster locations, by phone at 241-7469 and at www.cincinnatiarts.org. They're $20-$35.

Spirit Song: Tickets for this summer's Spirit Song Festival at Paramount's Kings Island's TimberWolf Amphitheater July 8-10 are on sale at Ticketmaster locations and www.ticketmaster.com. They're $41.99 single day, $59.99 two days and $69.99 for all three days of Christian music. Prices include all-day park admission.

Aerosmith: Tickets for Aerosmith's April 16 date at Dayton's Nutter Center go on sale at 10 a.m. today. $55-$72.50 at Ticketmaster and www.ticketmaster.com.

Planning ahead

24 hours out: First Unitarian Church goes all out with gospel when it delivers A Taste of Africa Gospel Concert, complete with a pre-concert dance demonstration and door prizes at intermission. 4:30 p.m. Sunday dance demo, 5 p.m. concert, First Unitarian Church, 536 Linton St., Avondale, $20 advance, $24 day of show. 281-1564.
