MONFORT HEIGHTS - La Salle High School is getting a new science wing and library/media center this fall and is seeking Hamilton County's help to obtain $2.7 million in tax-exempt bonds to finance the project.
This is the first time an Archdiocese of Cincinnati high school has sought revenue bond financing through a municipality for an expansion, said Robert F. Koch, La Salle's business manager.
La Salle, an all-boys school of about 825 students, will pay off the bonds, Koch said; no taxpayer funds are involved. However, by going through the county, La Salle obtains favorable interest rates and bondholders get tax benefits, Koch said.
The Hamilton County Commission must approve the bond measure.
Construction is under way on the three-story science center, said Thomas Leubbe, principal.
