EAST WALNUT HILLS - A memorial Mass for former Cincinnati Reds owner Marge Schott will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Ursula Academy, 1339 E. McMillan St.
The St. Ursula community will join family, friends and Sacred Heart Academy schoolmates of Schott at the service.
Schott, the school's largest benefactor, donated $1.5 million in the past three years, enabling the academy to begin construction on the 20-classroom Margaret Unnewehr Schott Hall, and the St. Ursula Academy gymnasium convocation center.
The academy's athletic field was named Schottzie Field after Schott's beloved dogs.
St. Lawrence open house
PRICE HILL - St. Lawrence School will host an open house 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Sunday at the school, 1020 Carson Ave. Teachers will answer questions about the K-8 school. Parents also may register their children for the 2004-05 school year. Information: 921-4996.
Business seminar offered
GREEN TWP. - Jim Donovan will be the guest speaker for the second annual Business Seminar, sponsored by the La Salle High School Business Association.
Donovan will address topics including generating new business ideas and bringing products to market, 6:30-9 p.m. March 18 at the Western Hills Country Club, 5780 Cleves-Warsaw Road.

Dyslexia help for parents
GREEN TWP. - Hints to help parents of children with dyslexia will be discussed 7-9 p.m. Thursday at La Salle High School, 3091 North Bend Road.
The talk includes tips for parents to help their children at home. It is sponsored by the Ohio Valley Branch of the International Dyslexia Association Learning Disability Parent Support Group. Information: 741-2319 or

Badin awarded $2,500 grant
HAMILTON - Stephen T. Badin High School has been awarded a $2,500 te@ch grant from the Best Buy Children's Foundation for integrating technology into the curriculum. The grant will be used for further improvements in the science department at Badin.
Contests related to classics
COLUMBIA TWP. - Students from across Ohio will gather Friday through Sunday in Columbus for the Ohio Junior Classical League State Convention, to be held in the Ramada Plaza Hotel, 4900 Sinclair Road.
More than 1,100 student club members from 60-plus Ohio schools are expected to compete in graphic arts, performance arts and academic contests related to the classics.
Both the state president, Anna Ryan, and state vice president, Nicholas Faulkner, are seniors at Summit Country Day School.
Food, books, supplies collected
GLENDALE - The Lincoln Heights Medical Center will benefit from a Catholic Schools Week project of St. Gabriel Consolidated School.
Students collected more than 65 boxes of food, school supplies and books for the center.
The donated food items will be distributed by Lincoln Heights nutritionists to needy families, the books will be donated to children who are patients at the center, and the school supplies were coordinated into bags to be given to young patients after they visit the center.
