Conference awards

• Conference USA: Memphis senior guard Antonio Burks is the league player of the year and Alabama-Birmingham's Mike Anderson is coach of the year, as selected by the C-USA coaches.

• Mid-American Conference: Miami senior Juby Johnson was named to the coaches' first team, and junior Chet Mason was voted honorable mention all-conference.

• Southeastern Conference: Kentucky's Erik Daniels and Gerald Fitch were named to the coaches' all-SEC first team Wednesday, and teammate Chuck Hayes was named to the second team. Daniels and Fitch had been named Tuesday to the Associated Press' all-SEC second team, and Hayes had joined Cliff Hawkins on the AP third team. Mississippi State's Lawrence Roberts was named SEC Player of the Year by the coaches, as he had been by the AP. The coaches named South Carolina's Dave Odom their Coach of the Year and Louisiana State's Brandon Bass as Freshman of the Year.
