Feds, locals arrest Boone Co. man
FLORENCE - James Julick, 39, was arrested early Friday on drug and other charges after the Boone County Sheriff's Department SWAT Team served federal arrest warrants.
Julick was charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during a drug trafficking offense and felon in possession of a firearm.
The charges resulted from a Feb. 17 investigation by the sheriff's department and a separate investigation last July by Park Hills Police.
Subsequent to Julick's arrest, investigators from the Northern Kentucky Drug Strike Force and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives executed a search warrant at Julick's home on Dixie Highway south of Florence.
Authorities found crack cocaine, powdered cocaine and marijuana. Thirteen firearms were also confiscated during the investigation.
Julick was at the Boone County Detention Center late Friday. No bond had been set.
Autopsy planned on body from river
OWENSBORO - An autopsy was planned Friday for an unidentified male body pulled out of the Ohio River.
The body was found Thursday just east of Owensboro by a tug boat crew.
Daviess County Coroner Bob Howe said the autopsy report from the state medical examiner's office in Madisonville is expected to determine how the man died and how long he had been in the water.
Investigators were checking missing-person reports from law enforcement agencies upstream with hopes of determining the man's identity.

Power outage closes aquarium
NEWPORT - A problem with an electric transformer caused the Newport Aquarium to lose power early Friday, forcing a one-day closure, said Jill Isaacs, public relations manager. Plans are for the aquarium to reopen today for normal business hours, she said. "All the animals are fine; we do have a backup generator for all the tanks," Isaacs said. The power failure was isolated to the aquarium, with no other nearby areas affected, Isaacs said.
