A Cincinnati employee accused of making racist threats on a police radio frequency was indicted by a Hamilton County grand jury Tuesday on two felony charges.
William Westerkamp, 32, of Mount Healthy, was indicted on one count of disrupting public services, a fourth-degree felony, and one count of unauthorized use of property, a fifth-degree felony.
Westerkamp, a city radio technician, is accused of making white supremacist statements on Cincinnati fire and police emergency channels on Feb. 22.
Westerkamp is on administrative leave without pay.
Hamilton County Prosecutor Mike Allen called Westerkamp's 45-minute tirade "racially inflammatory and quite appalling."
"Though it doesn't qualify as such under Ohio law, this is a hate case by any other definition," Allen said Tuesday. "It is clearly a matter where someone - seething in staggering anger - first lost their senses, then their job, and now it appears he may lose his freedom."
Westerkamp will be arraigned next week.
