Voters approve of cocktails
at country club in Mayfield

The Associated Press

MAYFIELD, Ky. - Voters overwhelmingly approved allowing Mayfield Golf and Country Club to sell liquor by the drink.

The sales could start within two months after voters OK'd a ballot referendum Tuesday legalizing the sales, 229-43.

In November, Mayfield voters approved legalizing liquor sales in restaurants seating at least 100 that derive 70 percent of their revenue from food sales.

The food sales provision does not apply to the country club's liquor sales.
