Liberty firehouse moving forward

News briefs

Staff/Wire reports

LIBERTY TWP. - Construction of the new township firehouse on Ohio 747 is scheduled to be complete by Aug. 18, though Fire Chief Paul Stumpf doesn't count on moving in then.

"I'm still counting on October," Stumpf said.

Originally set to open in June, the $2 million building was delayed because masonry bids were rejected twice, he says.

Station No. 3 will become the township's new fire headquarters. It will serve subdivisions along Ohio 747, while providing easy access to the Michael A. Fox Highway (Ohio 129). A new 110-foot aerial platform truck is expected to be delivered to the new firehouse by December, Stumpf said.

Volunteers needed to help seniors

WEST CHESTER TWP. - Volunteers are needed to help senior citizens with housecleaning or yard work this spring.

Anyone who can participate on May 1 in the RASKALS program - Random Acts of Simple Kindness Affecting Local Seniors - should contact Laura Groff at the West Chester Township Park Department (759-7312).

Additional information may be found at www.westchesteroh.org.

Storm water board elects president

DEERFIELD TWP. - The Storm Water District Board elected former township trustee Bill Morand as board president at its first meeting earlier this month.

The board meets the second Tuesday of the month. Meetings start at 6:30 p.m. in the Landen Station meeting room, 3292 Montgomery Road.

Open space talk Tuesday in Clermont

EASTGATE - Clermont County residents interested in preserving green space are invited to attend a meeting of the League of Women Voters of Clermont County at 7 p.m. Tuesday, at the Holiday Inn, 4501 Eastgate Blvd.

Dan Stauft and members of the Open Space Planning Group will be guest speakers. There will be a question and answer period.

The group will meet at 6 p.m. for a buffet dinner. Dinner is $14 per person. Information and reservations: Pebble Humphries at 732-0414 or visit www.lwvclermont.com.

Silent auction to benefit school

PLEASANT RIDGE - The Kennedy Heights Montessori Center will hold its annual silent auction at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Ridge Market.

Guests can bid on donated items, including hand-made jewelry, furniture and household items, meals at several area restaurants, and tickets to Paramount's Kings Island, the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park and other entertainment venues.

For information, contact Joni Lynch at 631-8135.
