LEBANON - About 30 people have launched the new Warren County Democrats in Action.
The group, open to all area registered Democrats, will meet the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m.
The group has adopted bylaws and elected officers, including Stephen Spraley as president. It also wrote Ohio Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell stating its concerns with electronic voting machines.
For meeting locations and agendas, call 934-4491 or 932-2191.
Trustee leaves court position
MASON - Deerfield Township Trustee Barbara Wilkens Reed is no longer an employee of Mason Municipal Court.
She declined to comment Monday on her departure, simply saying she left on her own terms. Reed's last day was Feb. 26.
Reed started with the court, which handles the township's misdemeanor cases, on June 2 after getting an advisory opinion from the Ohio Ethics Commission on possible conflict because of her role as trustee.
Alcohol screening set for April 8
People who are concerned that alcohol abuse has affected their health can get a free consultation with a health professional at four locations April 8 as part of National Alcohol Screening Day.
At the screening sites, people will be invited to fill out a written self-assessment of their alcohol use and when appropriate, will receive referrals to support agencies.
For more information, call the Alcoholism Council of the Cincinnati Area, 281-7880.
