FRANKFORT - Bryan L. Armstrong, a former editor for The Cincinnati Post who became a public relations director in state government, was found dead of a gunshot Thursday in Frankfort.
The case was under investigation, according to the Franklin County Coroner's Office.
Armstrong, 45, was director of public relations for the Kentucky Community and Technical College System.
He was a journalism graduate of Western Kentucky University.
Armstrong was an editor at The Kansas City Times before moving to The Cincinnati Post in 1983.
Armstrong moved to The Kentucky Post in Covington as state editor, then became chief of the newspaper's Frankfort bureau. He joined the former Workforce Development Cabinet before moving to the college system.
Armstrong is survived by a daughter, Lauren E. Armstrong of Bowling Green; a son, Seth L. Armstrong of Frankfort; his parents, Donald and Anne Armstrong of Shelbyville; and a sister, Catherine McAllister of Frankfort.
A funeral service is scheduled at 11 a.m. Monday at Shannon Funeral Home in Shelbyville with burial in Grove Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
