80th anniversary: Children's Theatre

A sensational performance of The Jungle Book helped Children's Theatre celebrate its 80th anniversary. After the performance at the Taft Theater, the 550 guests moved next door to the Scottish Rite Freemasons' ballroom.

Honored guests included Marjorie Marx, Betty Johnson and Suzanne Warrington, longtime Children's Theatre supporters.

In keeping with the jungle theme, guests were treated to a snake charmer. More than one child was spotted wearing a python. And one lucky family went home with a jungle-size raffle prize: an all-expenses-paid Disney cruise for four.

This birthday bash was sponsored by Miller-Valentine Group and Enerfab. Patrons included Fran and Wayne Carlisle, Betty and George Schaefer, Mary and Terry Smithers and Susie and Bob Castellini. Chaired by M.A. Rogers and Vicki Herchce, the gala raised $70,000 for Children's Theatre.
