Dana Corp. has notified Kentucky state officials of plans to eliminate 146 jobs at its Dry Ridge axle component plant over the next two months.
The Toledo-based company said the move, which will reduce plant employment to 234, was triggered by DaimlerChrysler Corp.'s decision to produce axles and components for its Jeep Grand Cherokee at a Detroit-area plant, rather than in Dry Ridge, said spokesman Gary Corrigan.
The five-year-old plant also produces axles and components for the Jeep Wrangler.
