Two men killed in Ky. I-71 car-truck wreck
GLENCOE - Two Cincinnati residents traveling north on Interstate 71 were killed when the driver lost control and crossed the median into the path of a tractor-trailer truck at 11:30 p.m. Monday, according to Kentucky State Police.
The driver of the 1997 Oldsmobile, Abdourahmane Sakho, 29, and his passenger Mohamed L. Sylla, 28, were pronounced dead at the scene. Police said both men, who lived in the same apartment building in Pleasant Ridge, were wearing seat belts.
Neighbors of the two men said Sakho moved from Atlanta to Cincinnati with his pregnant wife about six months ago and worked at LSI Industries in Blue Ash. Sylla worked for SSE Manufacturing in Florence.
Both were originally from the West African country of Senegal.
The driver of the truck, Samuel Phillips, 32, and passenger Pamela McGee, 22, were taken to the University of Louisville Medical Center, where they were treated for injuries. Both are from Magnolia, Texas.
The southbound lanes of I-71 were closed until 2 a.m. Tuesday.
Girl's death likely medical problem
DEERFIELD TWP. - Warren County authorities on Tuesday said the weekend death of a 12-year-old girl is likely related to her history of medical problems.
Barbara Lee called 911 to report that her daughter, Heather Day, was not breathing about 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Heather was pronounced dead a short time later.
The Warren County sheriff's office is investigating, but authorities said they do not consider the death suspicious, the coroner's office said.
Investigators think the girl may have died from an allergic reaction to diabetes medication. An autopsy was done and officials are waiting for results from laboratory tests.
The Webb-Noonan Funeral Home, Hamilton, is handling funeral arrangements.
Man sentenced in methamphetamine case
LEBANON - A 42-year-old South Lebanon man has been sentenced to three years in prison for methamphetamine-related offenses, the Warren County Prosecutor's Office said Tuesday.
Kerry Buchanan had pleaded guilty to felony charges of aggravated trafficking in drugs, illegal manufacture of drugs and a weapons charge before he was sentenced in Common Pleas Court last week.
Buchanan was charged late last year after the Warren-Clinton Drug Task Force investigated a tip that he was making and selling meth. Undercover agents arranged to buy the drug from him and also bought an assault rifle, Prosecutor Rachel Hutzel said.
Authorities obtained a warrant to search his home and found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
