Man thrown from vehicle dies of injuries
PRICE HILL - One of two brothers involved in an early Saturday wreck died later of his injuries.
Doug Spiller, 24, of Rue Center Court in Clermont County, was thrown from the vehicle his brother was driving after it rolled over about 2:15 a.m. on Rapid Run Pike. His brother, Brian, 29, also was thrown out. He was taken to University Hospital and admitted in serious condition, Cincinnati police said.
They were headed west in their 1993 Volkswagen Fox when it left the right side of the street, hit a light pole and tree, then rolled over.
Excessive speed and alcohol were factors in the accident, police said.
Spiller was the eighth traffic fatality victim in Cincinnati this year.
Man, brother held
for record tampering
GREEN TWP. - Two brothers ended up in jail Saturday when the one with a suspended driver's license tried to use the other's birth certificate to get a new temporary driving permit.
Anthony Battle had an explanation, according to the police report: His brother, Curtis, couldn't get a license anyway - his eyes are too bad.
Anthony, 50, of Colerain Township, and Curtis, 55, of Walnut Hills, both were arrested. They were charged with tampering with records and complicity, respectively.
Man charged with assault after comment
WALNUT HILLS - A man allegedly gave himself away to police Saturday afternoon when a woman accused him of throwing something at her while she was driving, hitting her in the head.
When Dominic Seals was arrested, according to the police report, he said: "I didn't throw no rock at that lady's head!"
The problem for Seals was that neither the victim nor the officer knew what had been thrown, police said.
Seals, 24, of Winton Hills, was charged with assault.
