Groundbreaking for rec center April 22
MOUNT WASHINGTON - This Cincinnati community's new, $5.5 million recreation center will break ground by month's end.
The event will be April 22 at 1 p.m. next to the existing center at 1715 Beacon St. Mayor Charlie Luken is expected to attend.
The one-story, 32,000-square-foot building will open sometime in 2005, said Mark Celsor, a service area coordinator for the Cincinnati Recreation Commission.
It will hold two full-size gymnasiums with a walking or running track elevated around both. There also will be a fitness center dance/karate room with a wood floor, and other attractions.
Village Kitchen moving to township
MARIEMONT - After 40 years, the Village Kitchen is pulling out of this eastern Hamilton County community for new digs in neighboring Columbia Township.
The eatery famous for serving simple food in a setting that fronts Mariemont's historic Tudor business square is moving into a new shopping plaza less than a mile away on Wooster Pike.
The new location will provide more space, owner Maureen Plate.
The lease for the new 4,800-square-foot location was signed Friday; the restaurant is expected to move by July.
Liberty egg hunt set for Saturday
LIBERTY TOWNSHIP - An Easter egg hunt will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday in Liberty Park (behind the Lakota YMCA at 6703 Yankee Road).
Children 8 years and younger will be divided into three age categories. There will be prize eggs in each category.
