SEATTLE - The Dallas Mavericks are starting to get a little worried about the approaching playoffs.
Rashard Lewis scored 25 points and the Seattle SuperSonics avoided being swept by the Mavericks this season with a 119-99 victory on Saturday.
"Last year down the stretch, we just had that confidence that we were going to win the game," Dirk Nowitzki said. "I don't think this year we have that confidence down the stretch."
Dallas, which had a six-game winning streak snapped, played without No. 2 scorer Michael Finley, who sat out because of back spasms. Rookie guard Marquis Daniels led the Mavericks with a career-high 33 points.
The Sonics are going to be an NBA lottery team for the second year in a row and the Mavericks are headed back to the playoffs, where they reached the Western Conference finals last season when they won 60 regular-season games. But Dallas looked like the lottery team as Nowitzki and Steve Nash had horrible shooting games. Nowitzki scored 10 points on 3-for-15 shooting, while Nash had four points on 2-for-10 shooting.
"All I can tell you is we were terrible and didn't deserve to win," coach Don Nelson said. "I was very disappointed with the performance."
Nash, who played before a large contingent of cheering fans from Victoria, British Columbia, struggled and Dallas' road record dropped to 15-24. The Mavericks have the best home record in the league at 35-5.
"For us to be so bad on the road is frustrating," he said.
The 7-foot Nowitzki believes it could be a short playoff run for the Mavericks if they don't turn around their road performances.
"We're probably going to start on the road in the playoffs so we'd better get it together," he said.
The Sonics got 18 points from veteran guard Brent Barry, who may leave Seattle as a free agent during the offseason, and 17 points from Ray Allen, their only All-Star.
Rookie Luke Ridnour, who started at point guard for Seattle, had 16 points and a career-high 13 assists.
In the second quarter, the Sonics took advantage of the poor shooting from Nowitzki and Nash, who were a combined 1-for-7 in the period, to go in front 66-46 at halftime. Seattle led by 21 points twice in the period, the first time on a fast-break dunk by Murray on a full-court pass from Lewis for a 60-39 lead.
Hawks 110, Celtics 99
ATLANTA - Bob Sura had his second straight triple-double, Stephen Jackson scored 28 points and Atlanta prevented Boston from clinching a playoff spot.
Sura had 15 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds to become the first Atlanta player to have a consecutive triple-doubles. The 6-foot-3 guard had 12 points, 12 assists and 11 rebounds Friday night in a 116-101 win at Chicago.
Pistons 101, Magic 89
ORLANDO, Fla. - Tayshaun Prince scored a career-high 25 points, and the Detroit Pistons won their seventh straight game.
Orlando dropped its 13th straight game to secure the NBA's worst record. The Magic will have the best chance - 25 percent - of landing the No. 1 pick in next month's draft lottery. Their selection can fall no lower than fifth.
Richard Hamilton scored 15 points with six assists for the Pistons, and Corliss Williamson added 13 points and six rebounds.
Cavaliers 91, Heat 80
CLEVELAND - Jeff McInnis scored 16 points, LeBron James added 11 assists and the Cleveland Cavaliers snapped a seven-game losing streak.
The Cavaliers won for just the second time in 13 games, a slide that began when McInnis injured his right shoulder on March 16 and resulted in Cleveland dropping from NBA playoff contention.
Knicks 102, Wizards 98, OT
WASHINGTON - Tim Thomas and DeMarr Johnson each scored 22 points, and Frank Williams hit four free throws in the closing seconds of overtime to lift the New York Knicks.
With the Boston Celtics losing to Atlanta, the Knicks can finish as no worse than the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Hornets 92, Bucks 87
MILWAUKEE - Jamaal Magloire scored 26 points and New Orleans beat Milwaukee, preventing the Bucks from clinching home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs. Michael Redd has 27 points for the Bucks.
Nuggets 110, Trail Blazers 100
DENVER - Carmelo Anthony scored 30 points, including six in overtime, and Denver Nuggets took a major step toward their first playoff appearance in nine years.
With two games remaining, Denver took a one-game lead over Portland and remained tied with Utah for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Utah beat Houston 82-69 Saturday night. Denver owns the tiebreakers over both Utah and Portland.
Anthony scored seven of Denver's last nine points in regulation, capped by a 17-foot jumper that made it 94-94 with 3.7 seconds left.
Nene added 18 points for Denver. Marcus Camby had 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Earl Boykins had 14 points.
Zach Randolph and Darius Miles each had 23 points for the Trail Blazers, with Randolph adding 11 rebounds. Derek Anderson had 21 points.
Jazz 82, Rockets 69
SALT LAKE CITY - Andrei Kirilenko had 15 points and eight rebounds and Gordan Giricek scored 23 points, keeping the Utah Jazz tied for the final playoff spot in the West.
Utah entered the game tied with Denver and Portland in the race for the No. 8 spot in the Western Conference.
The Jazz got Houston center Yao Ming in foul trouble early and took advantage with a 41-28 rebounding edge.
Jarron Collins had nine rebounds, Tom Gugliotta pulled down eight more and Carlos Arroyo scored 13 points for Utah, which guaranteed a winning season with its 42nd win.
Maurice Taylor led Houston with 16 points and Yao and Cuttino Mobley scored 15 apiece.
Utah plays Monday at Minnesota and closes the season Wednesday at home against Phoenix. The Jazz are going for their 21st straight playoff appearance.
