Norwood woman dies after being hit by van

NORWOOD - A Norwood woman died Thursday evening at University Hospital after she was hit by a van while trying to cross a street.

Christina Papayiannis, 35, was crossing Allison Avenue in the 4500 block when she walked into the path of the van at 9:28 p.m., police said. The accident happened in front of the Norwood Post Office.

The accident remains under investigation.

The name of the driver was not released.
