Boyd shines in second UK scrimmage
By The Associated Press
LEXINGTON - Kentucky's offense made a strong showing Saturday in the team's second scrimmage of spring practice.
The first-team offense, with senior Shane Boyd at quarterback, played six series against the starting defense.
Boyd led a 65-yard touchdown drive, including a 21-yard completion to Scott Mitchell. Boyd finished off the score with a 14-yard run. He completed 11 of 18 passes for 122 yards and one interception.
"Shane was very good today," said head coach Rich Brooks. "He did throw one interception, but he did a better job of recognizing things and doing what we asked him to do."
Freshman quarterback Andre Woodson also saw solid playing time, throwing for 76 yards on 8-of-11 passing.
The annual Blue-White game, the end of spring practice, is scheduled for April 24.
