Kids will miss out on all the fun of voting in this year's colorful presidential election. But Crayola hopes to draw them into the political process with some color of their own - a contest that allows them to nominate a new name for an existing Crayola crayon color based on their home states.
Today through July 31, kids can suggest new colors based on famous landmarks, cities, natural wonders, historical events, symbols or anything else that sets each state apart from the others. (How does Buckeye Scarlet sound? Or maybe Kentucky Bluegrass?)
After the end of the "State Your Color" campaign, a special Crayola committee will convene to select new crayon names for each state based on originality, creativity and relevance to the particular state.
Crayola will announce the winners - one in each state - in November. The prize? Fittingly, a box of "State Your Color" crayons and $100 in Crayola products.
