Former General Electric chief executive Jack Welch and his fiancee Suzy Wetlaufer
plan to marry on Saturday.
"This is the happiest I've ever been in my life," Welch, 68, told the Boston Herald.
The couple's affair made headlines when Wetlaufer, who was the editor of Harvard Business Review, revealed she had become romantically involved with Welch while working on a story about him. Shortly after, in March 2002, Jack and Jane Welch disclosed their plans to divorce. The Welches announced they had reached a divorce settlement in July.
"We both knew this was it," Wetlaufer, 44, said. "We did a big thing. We blew up our worlds."
