Fun society has its day

Red Hat members' purple pals
to celebrate in Kenwood

By Joy Kraft
The Cincinnati Enquirer

Look for the women wearing red hats and purple dresses Sunday at Kenwood Towne Centre. The Queen Mother of the Red Hat Society, Sue Ellen Cooper of California, who founded the original group for 50-plus women who fancy hats and a good laugh, has declared it Official Red Hat Day. One of Greater Cincinnati's groups, Cheviot's Purple Peacocks, has organized a celebration.

Members will meet at noon in front of Parisian and strut down to Lazarus, then to the Food Court. For more information on the group: www.redhatsociety.com.

Red Hat Society groups are so popular around the country that catalogs and stores stock purple dresses and red hats and accessories for members. Art & Artifact's most recent catalog has several pages of red hats, umbrellas, jewelry, purses and gloves. www.artandartifact.com.
