The Early Word: Jump on your weekend

Inspiring ensemble: Their story of triumph has resonated around the world. The Bethesda String Quartet, four Korean musicians who are disabled from polio, performs at 7:30 p.m. Friday, at the Korean Presbyterian Church, Hartwell. The ensemble studied with the renowned LaSalle Quartet at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music in the '80s. Since then, the group has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Aspen Music Festival and around the world. The program includes Haydn's String Quartet Op. 76, No. 2 and Dvorak's "American" Quartet. Stoogefest: The Movies in Pleasant Ridge celebrates National Humor Month tonight with Stoogefest, showing a continuous loop of Three Stooges films from 6 to 10 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge School auditorium, 5945 Montgomery Road.

Admission is $2; popcorn and snacks will be on sale in the school lobby. Parking at the school is free; doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Sprockets Film Festival: Winners of the Sprockets Film Festival for teens will be screened for the public 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Esquire Theatre, 320 Ludlow Ave., Clifton.

Students from Greater Cincinnati submit films and videos for a chance to win best acting, directing, editing, screenplay and other category honors, as well as the festival's "Palm Door" best-of-show prize.

Admission is free, although Sprockets requests a $3 donation to cover its cost. Information: dblase@cinci.rr.com.
