Chatfield ceremony to feature former CEO


On campus

CHATFIELD - Chatfield College, Ohio's only private Catholic three-year liberal arts college, will hold its commencement ceremony at 10 a.m. May 15.

The ceremony will be held in the Sacred Heart Chapel on the main campus in St. Martin. The event will honor students from both the Cincinnati campus and the St. Martin campus.

Joseph Pichler, former chairman and CEO of the Kroger Co., will be commencement speaker.

Fine arts show of student talent

NKU - Northern Kentucky University will host its inaugural Northern Lights event to showcase the talent and creativity of students in the fine arts program from 4 to 7 p.m. May 2 in the Fine Arts Center.

The event will feature 10- to 20-minute student performances in dance, theater and music. Art students will display paintings, drawings, prints, sculpture, photography, mixed-media projects and graphic design.

The event will raise money for fine arts scholarships.

The formal event begins at 4 p.m. in Greaves Concert Hall, and there is a host/patron champagne reception in the Main Art Gallery at 3 p.m. Tickets are $75 per person for patrons; $50 for general admission; $25 for students over 10; and free under 10.

Munoz to speak at ethics seminar

XAVIER - Anthony Munoz, founder of the Anthony Munoz Foundation and a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, will speak at the second annual Xavier University Ethics Seminar on May 12.

The all-day event, "Facing the Truth," will be held in Schmidt Hall on the Evanston campus.

From 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., speakers will cover topics in ethics and corporate citizenship.

Munoz will speak during a session titled "Philanthropy and Community" from 2 to 3 p.m.

History professor to lecture on diocese

THOMAS MORE - Paul A. Tenkotte, a professor of history and international studies at Thomas More College, will be the featured speaker for the 2004 Monsignor H. F. Hillenmeyer Distinguished Lecture Series.

The lecture is 7 p.m. April 29 in Steigerwald Hall in the Holbrook Student Center on the Crestview Hills campus. His presentation, "To Be Catholic and American: The First 70 Years of the Diocese of Covington," is free and open to the public.

Miami selects dean of fine arts

MIAMI - Miami University has named Jose Antonio Bowen as dean of the School of Fine Art, effective July 1. Bowen has been a faculty member at Georgetown University since 1999.
