Electric candles selling quickly
A day after family and friends of captive Pfc. Keith Matthew "Matt" Maupin asked the community to support Maupin and other troops by lighting electric candles, stores reported a rush on the items that typically sell only during the Christmas season. On Thursday, Batavia Electric Supply Co. sold all 12 electric candles it had in stock and will get a shipment Monday of 135 candles, which will be sold at cost. The Eastgate Michaels arts and crafts store had sold more than 100 battery- and electric-powered candles Thursday, and the store has plenty more in stock. The First Baptist Church of Glen Este pastor, Brent Snook, asked the 1,300 attendees at Wednesday night's service for the soldier missing since April 9 to help "light the way home" for the Glen Este High School graduate held in Iraq.
