HAMILTON - Jury deliberations are expected to begin Monday in the murder trial of Anthony Darnell Mason, accused of killing his ex-girlfriend in May.
Mason's lawyers did not call any witnesses Thursday on behalf of their client, who could face the death penalty if convicted in the shooting death of Angela Turley.
"There was no benefit in him taking the witness stand today," said Mason's lawyer Greg Howard.
If Mason had testified, Howard said, he wouldn't have said anything different than what jurors heard earlier in the week in a taped conversation between Mason and police during their investigation. Mason said Turley, 27, aimed a gun at him.
Mason, 44, is charged with aggravated murder, aggravated burglary and felonious assault.
Jurors were sent home around 11 a.m. Thursday by Butler County Common Pleas Judge H.J. Bressler.
