Support our troops rally begins at 11 today

FAIRFIELD - World War II and Korean War veterans will speak at a public Support Our Troops rally at 11 a.m. today at the Ohio Army National Guard armory, 3000 Symmes Road.

Members of the 216th Engineer Battalion stationed there have been serving in Iraq since February.

Julie Denning, Jaycees national vice president, will attend the rally, organized by the Hamilton-Fairfield Jaycees.

Public memorial service for Fitton

HAMILTON - A public memorial service for philanthropist Richard J. Fitton will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hamilton High School.

The civic leader and retired banker, 76, died March 14.

He worked behind the scenes for the low-level dam, Hamiltonian Hotel, downtown railroad underpass, Fitton Center for Creative Arts, Columbia Bridge and Miami University Hamilton branch and many other projects.

Clermont League of Women Voters meets

EASTGATE - Michael Cochran, executive director of the Ohio Townships Association, will speak at a meeting of the League of Women Voters of Clermont County at 7 p.m. Tuesday, at the Holiday Inn, 4501 Eastgate Blvd.

Ohio may eliminate the recent increase in the sales tax, and then, to cut expenditures, consider reducing or eliminating local government funds. Cochran will discuss the ramifications of such policies for the county.

Sunday walk benefits March of Dimes

DOWNTOWN - All are invited for a walk that supports the March of Dimes on Sunday at Sawyer Point Park. The Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Walk America registration will begin at 8 a.m. with the walk at 9 a.m. There will be a 6.2-mile route and a 2-mile Family Fun Walk.

The day will include skydivers, singers, dancers and food. The route goes through Great American Ball Park, Paul Brown Stadium, Goebel Park, Newport pedestrian bridge back to Sawyer Point for Taste of WalkAmerica and the Home Depot KidsZone.

Neighbors to meet in College Hill

COLLEGE HILL - The Neighborhood and Public Services Committee will hold a Neighborhoods in the Neighborhood meeting on April 27 at 7:30 p.m. at the College Hill Recreation Center, 5545 Belmont St.
