Plane damaged in gear-up landing
Forgetfulness is being blamed on a minor accident at Lunken Airport on Saturday that left a small, single-engine plane disabled on one of the airport's runways for several hours.
The pilot apparently forgot to put down his landing gear upon descent into Lunken, and landed on the belly of the plane, according to Cincinnati Fire District Chief Jay Boeing. There were no injuries, and other planes were allowed to take off and land while crews worked to tow the disabled airplane off the runway. The pilot's name was not released by Cincinnati Fire officials.
"There was damage to the airplane and the pilot's pride, but nothing else," Boeing said.
