Miami series hosts Leno, Perlman

Late-night talk-show host Jay Leno, acclaimed stage clown Bill Irwin, violin virtuoso Itzhak Perlman, off-Broadway hits Embedded and Cookin' and Brazil's Capoeira-style dance are some of the outstanding events booked for the 2004-05 season by Miami University. The lineup:

Millett Hall

• Sept. 19 - Itzhak Perlman

• Jan. 25 - Cookin', a Stomp!-style with four chefs and their flashing chopping knives

• April 23 - Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake performed by the Russian National Ballet

Hall Auditorium

• Sept. 28 - Moscow Chamber Orchestra with the Oxford Chamber Orchestra

• Oct. 23 - Capitol Steps with the musical satire Who Put the Mock in Democracy?

• Nov. 1 - Embedded, written and directed by Oscar winner Tim Robbins and performed by the Actor's Gang

• Nov. 19 - Nego Gato Music and Dance Ensemble

• Feb. 17 - The Canadian Brass, joined by the Miami Wind Ensemble

• March 30 - Male vocal ensemble Cantus performing with Miami Men's Glee Club

Millett series subscriptions are $57 adults, $54 senior citizens and $26 for students and youth. Hall series tickets are $77 adults, $70 senior citizens and $39 for students and youth.

Season extras

• Aug. 27 - Bill Irwin, noted actor, clown, playwright and director (Hall Auditorium)

• Oct. 9 - Jay Leno (Millett Hall). All tickets are $38 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Aug. 28. A quick sell-out is expected.

• Oct. 11 - Performance artist Laurie Anderson (Hall Auditorium)

• Nov. 12-14 - Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro) by Miami Opera Theatre (Hall Auditorium)
