Mothers part of wartime effort
Mothers' hearts are the unseen casualties of war. It has been that way as long as there has been war. Young people fight. Mothers wait and worry. On May 9 - Mother's Day - the Enquirer would like to publish examples of the letters that soldiers and sailors have written home to their mothers in wars from the last century - World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf War and from Iraq, as well as letters mothers have sent to their sons and daughters serving overseas. If you have a letter you are willing to share, contact Enquirer reporter Howard Wilkinson at hwilkinson@enquirer.com or call 786-8388 or write him at The Cincinnati Enquirer, 312 Elm St., Cincinnati OH 45202. (Please send copies of the correspondence, if possible, and include day and night phone numbers.)

Club Clau appeals to the jet set
OVER-THE-RHINE - Here's where the cool people hang: London. Paris. Milan. Berlin. And Cincinnati. Club Clau, at 12th and Sycamore streets in Over-the-Rhine, has been recognized in Conde Nast Traveler's May issue on the 2004 Hot List. The magazine details 30 bar scenes from Boston to Bejing in no particular order. Noted are Clau's eclectic mix of music, VIP areas, striking models, decor and the flashing images projected above the dance floor. The piece even recognizes that some clubgoers leave with a souvenir - the avant garde artwork that sells right off the walls.
