Officer indicted, accused of assault
A Forest Park police officer indicted Wednesday is accused of harming a 17-year-old boy during an arrest last month.
A Hamilton County grand jury charged Todd Halusek with misdemeanor assault.
The incident was caught by a video system at the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center.
Forest Park police said the charges stem from a March 14 unauthorized use of a vehicle case.
Halusek saw the teen driving a car with a torn temporary license tag and pulled him over. Later, Halusek determined the teen did not have permission to be driving the car, which prompted the boy's arrest 11 days later.
The boy's mother has alleged that the officer assaulted her son after the boy, whose hands and legs were cuffed, argued with the officer at the detention center.
An internal investigation is also being done, Forest Park Police Chief Ken Hughes said.
