WEST CHESTER TWP. - A search was under way Thursday for two men who police and FBI agents say are involved in stealing a truck with $800,000 of computers from Northern Kentucky. Two others are in custody.
West Chester Township Police said one man ran from an unnamed business at 4860 Duff Drive when officers approached the property about 3:30 p.m. The business is in a corporate park just east of Butler County's Princeton-Glendale Road.
Another man fled in a purple 1998 Freightliner tractor with Kentucky registration 9NE887.
West Chester Police Chief John Bruce said an empty truck trailer, which had carried $800,000 worth of Dell computers, was discovered Wednesday off nearby Union Centre Boulevard. It had been reported stolen Tuesday from the TA Truck Stop in Walton.
Police and FBI agents traced the theft to the Duff Drive business, where they suspected the computers had been unloaded, police said. Two men were arrested at the business. Charges are pending.
Authorities began a search of the area for the man who ran.
Police found no weapons on the two arrested men, but warned that they didn't know whether the two at-large suspects are armed. They described the man who fled on foot as Hispanic, 5 feet 9 inches tall, wearing a brown T-shirt and cut-off blue jeans.
FBI agents declined to discuss their involvement in the operation.
A warrant was being sought Thursday evening for a search of the facility, where authorities think the stolen computers might be stored, police said.
Bruce said his department's investigation, in cooperation with the FBI and Sharonville police, is continuing.
