Road name changes, but it's still there
FAIRFIELD - Forest Fair Drive will soon be erased from Greater Cincinnati maps.
With Forest Fair Mall being relaunched as Cincinnati Mills Aug. 19, Fairfield City Council has changed the name of the access road to the shopping center to Cincinnati Mills Drive.
Earlier this month, Forest Park City Council also changed the road name. The 1.5-million-square-foot mall is on the Fairfield-Forest Park line just north of the Interstate 275-Winton Road interchange.
The mall will reopen with nearly 200 outlet stores and specialty shops, plus dining and entertainment areas, to complement anchors Biggs, Kohl's and Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World.
Joyce skate park ribbon-cutting today
HAMILTON - After Hamilton, Fairfield and Hamilton Community Foundation officials cut the ribbon today for the new $202,984 Joyce Park skateboard park, Fairfield will throw a bash for the kids who use it.
"We'll do something later for kids. We've had some requests for garage bands to play," says Jim Bell, Fairfield Parks and Recreation director.
The ceremony is 4 p.m. today at the Hamilton-Fairfield Skate Park on Forest Lake Lane. It will be open during daylight starting Saturday.
Plan Your Parks seeks resident input
MASON - Have an idea for what the city should do with its 240-plus acres of undeveloped parkland?
Planners want to hear it.
The city is hosting a series of "Plan Your Parks" workshops to get input for its park master plan. The meetings will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. May 4, May 25 and May 27 at the municipal center, 6000 Mason-Montgomery Road.
The city has hired Woolpert LLP to lead the workshops and develop the plan.
Planting marks Tree City honor
SPRINGDALE - The city celebrates Arbor Day and Springdale's designation as a Tree City USA by planting a tree during a ceremony at 4 p.m. today at the Community Center, 11999 Lawnview. Refreshments will be served after the tree planting. Information: 346-3910.
Basketball game benefits senior class
FOREST PARK - A team from the Forest Park Fire Department will play a team of seniors from Winton Woods High School in a fund-raiser to benefit the senior class at 4 p.m. today at Winton Woods High School, 1215 W. Kemper Road.
The basketball game pits the "Bravest" vs. the "Ballers." The event also includes a half-court shot and a dunk contest and a split-the-pot. Admission is $2 for adults,$1 for students.
