Fans in the Churchill Downs paddock area were reminiscent of those lining the red carpet at the Oscars.
"Everybody's looking to see what you're wearing," jockey Robby Albarado said.
He meant logos on pant legs, not designer frocks.
A federal judge ruled Thursday that five jockeys who filed a lawsuit had the right to wear advertisements in the Kentucky Derby.
Churchill Downs and the state's racing authority cleared all jockeys to wear the logos.
"They are very tasteful," said Sally Bailey of Grand Rapids, Mich. Bailey and friends had their picture taken with jockey Shane Sellers, who had Wrangler logos on his pant legs.
"As long as you can tell what horses they're on, I don't mind them at all," said Jerod Bell of Saginaw, Mich., who was getting autographs near the jockeys' room.
