Restaurants plate their finest as they compete for Best of Taste - Taste of Cincinnati, that is. 5-7 p.m. today, Hyatt Regency Hotel, 151 W. Fifth St., downtown. $15 includes food samples, soft drinks and one ticket for wine or beer. 579-3111.

Marathon training

Want to get ready for next year's Flying Pig? Jeff Galloway's Marathon Training Program Kick-Off is for you. Northern Kentucky Convention Center, 1 W. RiverCenter Blvd., Covington. Fun run at 5:30 p.m., followed by a book signing at 6:30 p.m. and free running clinic at 7:30 p.m. (859) 261-1500.

College artists

Three area colleges are showcasing their seniors' artwork. The following exhibits close this week:

•  Senior Thesis Exhibition features the works of Halley Douglas, Erin Feller, Elizabeth Herron and Le Hein Minh. 9 a.m.-9 p.m. today through Friday, Art Academy of Cincinnati Chidlaw Gallery, 1125 St. Gregory St., Mount Adams. Free. 562-8777.

• Senior Thesis II displays the works of the College of Mount St. Joseph art department's 2004 graduating class. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. today through Saturday, Studio San Giuseppe Art Gallery, 5701 Delhi Road, Delhi Township. Free. 244-4314.

•  Thesis Exhibits spotlights Xavier University's Sarah Riesser in graphic design/fibers/mixed media. 10 a.m.-4 p.m. today through Friday, Xavier University Art Gallery, 1658 Herald Ave., Evanston. Free. 745-3811.

Planning Ahead

24 hours out: Choir rehearsals

The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center Choir begins rehearsals 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Christ Church Cathedral downtown and 6-8 p.m. May 11 at House of Joy, 5910 Hamilton Ave., College Hill. Attendance at one of the above rehearsals is mandatory. No audition or experience required. 412-6900.

24 hours out: Book discussion

Caryl Phillips discusses Crossing the River, his book that's the featured On the Same Page novel, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, University of Cincinnati, Tangeman University Center's Great Hall. Free. 556-6000.
