LEBANON - A West Chester man is facing two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide after his pickup truck struck and killed a Dayton, Ohio, man who was changing a tire on Interstate 75 in Franklin in March.
A Warren County grand jury indicted Nicholas Hedges, 25, on Monday.
Brandon R. Patton, 20, had pulled his car over on the shoulder of northbound I-75 near the Ohio 73 entrance ramp to change a tire on March 4. .
Patton was dead when emergency workers arrived. Three passengers, who had remained in his car, were not hurt.
Runaway trailer injures three in car
STONELICK TOWNSHIP - Three Batavia siblings were treated at Clermont Mercy Hospital for minor injuries Monday after their car was struck by a runaway trailer.
John Foster, 18; Lea Foster, 15; and David Foster, 17, were taken to Clermont Mercy after the crash on U.S. 50 east of Owensville.
The three, on their way to classes at Clermont Northeastern High School, were driving east when a trailer being pulled by a westbound pickup truck broke free.
The trailer crossed the center line and hit the car head-on, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.
Neither the driver of the truck, Shane Ballard, 29, of Williamsburg, nor his passenger, Nathan Nichols, 23, whose hometown was not available, was hurt.
Ballard was ticketed on a charge of driving an unsafe vehicle, troopers said.
Armed robber steals high-priced shoes
SYCAMORE TWP. - A gunman who robbed a store Monday at Kenwood Towne Center wasn't interested in money.
He wanted high-priced athletic shoes.
Hamilton County sheriff's officials said the man went to Footaction USA around 11:15 a.m. and asked the clerk for a pair of exclusive shoes, which were kept in the rear of the store.
When the clerk returned with the shoes and asked for payment, the robber lifted his shirt where a semiautomatic handgun was tucked in the waistband of his pants.
The robber threatened the clerk and left the store with a pair of Nike Air Huarache 2K4 and a pair of Air Jordan 2 Retro athletic shoes in sizes 9 and 91/2. The Huaraches sell in the store for $124.99; the Jordans sell for $109.99.He left a car driven by another man.
