LOVELAND - A proposal by Loveland Youth Football to build a press box at Boike Park took another step forward after the council agreed to insure the structure.
The plan has been delayed because the football association was unable to acquire liability insurance for the 96-square-foot elevated building. Lawyers for the city determined that Loveland was responsible for insurance because it has agreed to maintain the press box.
Recreation center proposal on agenda
SYMMES TWP. - A proposal to build and fund a recreation center with Deerfield Township will be the topic of community meetings 7 p.m. May 20 and May 25 at Symmes Elementary School, 11820 Enyart Rd.
Trustees want to gauge interest in the proposal, which involves having the Ralph J. Stolle Countryside YMCA operate an 80,000-square-foot facility on 27 acres that Deerfield owns just over the Warren County. Symmes officials will ask residents for a tax levy. For information, call the township office at 683-6644.
Water will be shut off for improvements
HAMILTON TWP. - The water will be shut off between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. today along the 3-C Highway from Ohio 48 to Willow Pond Boulevard while water improvements are made there.
The Warren County Water and Sewer Department, in accordance with Ohio Environmental Protection Agency rules, has issued a boil advisory starting at 9 a.m. today.
Anyone with questions should call 695-1377.
Zone change may lead to 80 homes
LIBERTY TWP. - Eighty homes will be built on the western edge of the Elks Club golf course if the township zoning commission and trustees authorize the plan.
The Butler County Planning Commission has approved the zone change from river recreation to residential planned unit development for 52 acres between Liberty-Fairfield Road and the golf course. A township zoning hearing on the property is scheduled for 7 p.m. today at the township building, 6400 Princeton Road.
Montgomery named Tree City once again
MONTGOMERY - For the eighth year, the National Arbor Day Foundation has named Montgomery a Tree City USA.
The city also received the organization's growth award for demonstrating progress in its community forestry program.
To qualify as a Tree City, communities must have a tree board or department, a tree care ordinance, a community forestry program with an annual budget of a least $2 per capita, and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.
Moms in Touch leader will speak at church
ANDERSON TWP. - Kathleen Wendeln, U.S. leadership manager of Moms In Touch International, will be the featured speaker today at the organization's luncheon at Anderson Hills Methodist Church, 7515 Forest Road. Her topic is "The Legacy of Prayer."
