TV Best Bets

Gannett News Service

Worth watching

Cops: Crime of Passion, 8-10 p.m., Channels 19, 45. This new special has two hours of domestic violence.

Survivor: All-Stars, 8 p.m., Channels 12, 7. The field is trimmed to four.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, 9 p.m., Channels 12, 7. A roller coaster turns deadly. The tough part now is determining if this can really be considered an accident.

Without a Trace, 10 p.m., Channels 12, 7. Shortly after he is fired, a college football coach disappears.

ER, 10 p.m., Channels 5, 22. This hour is filled with crises. Carter's pregnant girlfriend (Thandie Newton) must be rushed to the emergency room. Corday is visited by Rachel, the daughter of her late husband, Mark Greene. The girl wants a morning-after birth-control pill. Neela is celebrating her med-school graduation with 20 family members; Abby graduates, too, but has nothing to celebrate.

Sweeps Spotlight

Friends finale, 9-10 p.m., Channels 5, 22, with preview at 8 p.m.

One of the most successful - and most fun - shows in TV history ends tonight. Friends has always had its doubters. To some, the stars are too pretty, the jokes are too slick.

Beneath that shiny surface, however, each of the six characters is sharply defined. These young actors have fine comedy timing and great lines to deal with.

Now comes the hour-long finale, simply titled "The Last One," with serious questions: Will Rachel and Ross really stay apart, with Rachel going to the new job in Paris and Ross keeping his tenured faculty job? Will things work out for Monica and Chandler, with an adopted baby and a home in the suburbs? Will Joey adjust; will Phoebe still be Phoebe?

We'll see. First is an hour of clips, appropriately titled "The One With All the Other Ones."
