They already live in Mason - they bought a house there in 1997 - and they occasionally look at other houses for sale in the area. But they like their neighbors and their location so much, they have little incentive to move.
The Kellys live in Water's Edge subdivision, and their 15-year-old son makes regular trips to Paramount's Kings Island and attends Mason High School, where he's very happy.
"The primary reason we moved out there is the high-quality schools," says Mike Kelly. "We love the school system."
More and more people are discovering a lot to like about Mason, driving its home sales up to 777 last year, the most of any neighborhood in Southwest Ohio.
Homes in Mason typically are 1 to 10 years old. They range from 2,000 to 5,000 square feet. Their features include large master bedrooms with Jacuzzi baths and finished basements that can be used for entertaining guests or a playroom for kids.
The homes in Mason typically are Colonial, traditional and Cape Cod and can run from $100,000 to $1.3 million.
About 25-30 minutes from downtown Cincinnati, Mason also is known for being a family-friendly community where neighbors' kids play and go to school together.
The Mason City Schools consistently rank among the state's top schools. That ranking includes achieving all 22 standards on the 2004 report card.
