LEBANON - A fire at an auto salvage yard early Saturday sparked several explosions as propane tanks scattered around the yard blew apart while firefighters fought the blaze.
No one was injured, but it took crews from 10 departments all night to put out the fire that started about 1 a.m. in the 2300 block of Lebanon Road said Lebanon Fire Capt. Mark Schockman.
"The location of the fire made it difficult to get to, and there was no water at the scene - so we had to bring in tanker trucks," Schockman said.
Officials with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency were on the scene Saturday, assessing how to clean up the hodge-podge of hazardous chemicals left behind by the blaze.
No damage estimate or cause was available Saturday. Arson investigators will start examining the site Monday, Schockman said.
