DEERFIELD TWP. - About 500 residents in the Kings Local School District will get a phone call next week asking them to participate in a community attitude survey about the schools.
Registered voters will be asked by phone for their opinions on school-related topics, including the quality of education provided by the district, communication, finances and more.
Also included in the survey will be questions about building use and options to ease overcrowding at the junior/senior high school campus.
"It's very important that we get a clear, objective view of what our public wants of its schools," said Hale Husband, president of the Kings Board of Education.
More veterans may receive diplomas
FAIRFIELD - Another group of veterans may apply for diplomas from Fairfield Senior High School under a change in state law and district policy expected to be adopted next week.
Besides World War II veterans, those who served in the Korean War are eligible to receive a diploma if this criteria is met: the vet left school before graduating to serve in the armed forces, received an honorable discharge, is/was a resident of Ohio and has not been granted a similar diploma from another state.
The time of service for eligible veterans is Sept. 16, 1940, through Dec. 31, 1946, or from June 27, 1950, through Jan. 31, 1955.
Those interested should pick up forms from the Butler County Veterans Service Commission, 315 High St., first floor. Once forms have been reviewed and information verified, they would be forwarded to the school district for awarding of the diploma.
