Sweeps spotlight
Frasier finale, 8:54-10 p.m., Channel 5, 22; preceded by clips at 8 p.m.
Frasier needs a doublewide episode - plus six extra minutes - to wrap things up. Give it all the time it wants. At its peak, Frasier was the best show on TV, winner of a record 31 Emmys, including four straight for best comedy. After slumping for a few years, it brought back some of its original producers and has made this final season terrific.
As the finale starts, Martin has flubbed the plans for his wedding with Ronee (Wendi Malick). Now his fussy sons, Frasier and Niles, take over as wedding planners. Complications pile up because Daphne and Niles are expecting their baby. Two of her brothers - Michael (Robbie Coltrane) and the low-life Simon (Anthony LaPaglia in an about-face from his Without a Trace role) arrive from England.
Meanwhile, Frasier is supposed to say farewell to Charlotte (Laura Linney), the best chance he's ever had to find happiness. She's leaving for Chicago and he's staying here - unless, of course, Frasier has a final surprise.
