Scripps expands satellite capacity

Staff reports

E.W. Scripps Co. Monday signed a deal to bring more satellite distribution capacity to its expanding lineup of home-focused programming.

Scripps Networks, a division of the Cincinnati-based multimedia company, signed a pact with SES Americom Inc. for C-band capacity on the company's two HD-Prime A2100 satellites. Scripps Networks produces and distributes HGTV, the Food Network, Do It Yourself DIY, Fine Living and Shop at Home channels to about 80 million households in North America that have cable access.

Terms of the deal with SES Americom which operates 16 spacecraft, were not released. The new satellite offers a more powerful signal and digital transmission capabilities, said Monica Morgan, vice president of communications for SES Americom.Ceco reports loss for quarter
